Admittedly, I would not be testing without a full understanding of the users requirements and the risks associated with the project, but in this instance I am assuming that it is a login screen for a blogging tool. I agree that the testing of a l...

I've not got much time here so I'm applying risk based testing and am only going to test setting up a new account, logging in, logging out and checking the lost password feature. I'd check this in both Firefox 3 and IE8, but that's all. This test...

I was curious to find out what is involved in videogame testing, assuming that it's actually a really complex series of sprite collison detection and vector graphic inspection(!) This was partly inspired by James Whittaker's talk on the Future of...

Automated Testing Tools Survey Results

The results of the Automated Testing Tools survey showed that QuickTestPro (21%) and Selenium (16%) are the most used tools. Winrunner is still popular with 9% although as many do not use any automation.

The Other section had the most votes (29%) and included Watir, NUnit, JUnit and FitNesse amongst others including custom in house tools.

Survey Results So Far

QuickTestPro is the leading tool with 22 votes. This is no great surprise as general consensus would put this as the test tool in widest use. I am surprised that there are so few votes for other 'popular' tools such as QARunner and TestDriveGold.

Selenium follows closely with 17 votes. As this is a relative new web testing tool, this surely shows that Software Testing Club members are at the cutting edge of technology!

The largest vote is with Other at 33 votes. From the comments posted so far… Continue

If there are enough responses I think it will be worth setting up a seperate group within the club. If there is a large group of users of one tool in particular it may also be worth creating a group for that tool.

I would hope that these groups can be used for exchanging lessons learned in automation.

Hope you take the t… Continue
