Probably the worst one I've seen: Title: "abc.aspx looks like poo" (no description, but had a screenshot) Second worst: Title: "abc.aspx looks awesome" Description: "maybe we should make it look less awesome" (had a screenshot) Well, at least they…

When Microsoft launched Windows XP they gave us wider title bars and task bars. Many people switched off 'XP-mode' and reverted back to the Windows 2000-style interface at the time. Testers needed to think about two different interface designs when…

Test Policy

Guys

I am looking to produce a short executive summary for a Test Policy. The idea being that it will be a short easy to digest statement for senior management, that will be supported by a much thicker document explaining each statement that will probably not be read by too many. Below is my first draft. Have a look see and PLEASE tear it apart, point out errors and omissions, tell me where I have gone wrong, suggest changes and things to include.

Many thanks

Tony

You want a Bug Tracking Tool........ you should be sacked!

Ok, so you call yourself a test manager, you think testing should start right at the start of a project, you believe that you add real value to a project, then why the pigging heck do you want to spend thousands on a Bug Tracking Tool?

You are a fraud!

A bit harsh you may think, maybe a little bit twisted even, you don't agree of course as there are a hundred and one good reasons why you need a bug tracking tool, but let me just challenge your thinking.

Suppose you wanted a house built, and t… Continue

Testers Pocketbook

Guys

I don't know if anyone else has posted this, so forgive me if they have, but .......

I have just got my copy of Paul Gerrard's little black book, 'The Tester's Pocketbook' It is excellent. This short little book sets out a good introduction to testing, is full of testing truths, prompts you with a number of questions to ask and challenges you to look again at what you are doing. Great for those new to testing as well as old hands. Get it on your Christmas list now.

Why I Think You Must Be Lazy, Criminal, Technically Challenged or Ignorant!

As I write this on a cold November 2nd morning in the UK an inquiry is under way after a memory stick with user names and passwords, used in testing a key UK Government computer system, was discovered in a pub car park. The Mail on Sunday said ministers have ordered an emergency shutdown of the Gateway website, which covers anything from tax returns to parking tickets, while experts checked to ensure people's private details were not compromised.
Here in the UK we have had a string of such news… Continue

If I were a developer...... I'd hate you too.

As a test manager, one of the most embarrassing, and all to frequent, situations I find myself in is when I am reviewing bug reports with the development manager and he passes me a stack and says,

“We haven’t a clue what these mean.”“We haven’t a clue what these mean.”

I look at the first one and it says,
Title: System Crashes,
Description: System crashed
or words to that effect.
The development manager looks at me and says,

“What the hell are we meant to do with that? How does it crash? Wh… Continue

I want to see a picture where you're not so serious. ;0
