A colleague of mine once reviewed some CMMI Level 5 companies in India, and they did not even achieve Level 2 of the TMMi. Just because an organisation dots all the i's and crosses all the t's in development does not mean that they are good at pro...

Have you tried looking at TMMi (www.tmmifoundation.org)? It is test-focused rather than development-focused, and although there is some overlap with CMMI, there is a lot there which can help test departments check how and why they are performing c...

Profile Information

About Me:
Nathan is a professionally certified test consultant with management experience in leading small-medium teams in a variety of high-pressure circumstances.

Since the start of 2008, he has trained in the Test Maturity Model, and conducted a number of Assessments for a variety of nationally-recognised organisations. He is a capable Assessor of test strengths and weaknesses and can recommend test process improvements that will deliver real, measurable Return On Investment (ROI). Additionally, he has recently written a new international industry standard relating to the Test Maturity Model Integrated (TMMi).

Prior to this, Nathan had over 5 years experience of rapid development & deployment of systems within the IT industry. He worked for a number of PRINCE2-led projects, and had experience of implementing RUP and CMMI methodologies in order to improve process and thereby improve system delivery.

Over those 5 years, Nathan created a strong track record of delivering systems both on-time and to-budget as set by the project he worked for. In this time, he ensured that not a single system was late into the field, and that not a single one failed to meet the requisite quality levels. His strong work ethic and his will to succeed helps to enthuse those around him with the belief in their own abilities to deliver as well as believing in their product families.

Nathan has been responsible for a budget of approximately £250K for improving test environments in his workplace. Keeping an eye on industry shifts, he has recommended new hardware & software directions as appropriate for further discussion with the System Design Authorities.

Nathan has strong interpersonal skills which have earned him the respect and appreciation of management, staff, colleagues and customers. His creation of a powerful team ethic in the teams that he led helped to create an atmosphere of trust and dedication to duty from his staff, helping to ensure that timescales were met as the team collaborated in an enhanced fashion as a result. He liaised with high-level customers, assisting with the process of marrying their expectations to desirable but realistic deadlines and product feature sets.

Nathan is a full member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).

TMMi Foundation launches

The TMMi Foundation is dedicated to improving test processes and practice. It is a non-profit making organisation and the focus of the foundation's activities is the development of a common, robust model of test process assessment / improvement in IT organisations - namely, the Test Maturity Model integrated (TMMi).

After a number of years of development, the Foundation is now ready to launch, and to make the testing community aware of the existence of this initiative.
