ElizaF replied to SimonK's discussion Testers aren't creative! Or are they?
"Of course testers are creative, you should see some of the bug reports I've read (and occasionally filed) The best was a followed by a long comment which went something like: I've logged this as a P1 S1, so please just fix it. Hey, as an…"

"On no, I mean 1, 2 and 3 as how to build up your social networks, not how to play them out to get yourself new roles. That is a bit icky and to be honest, not something that anyone could keep up for very long. The 'endgame' of building up…"

The dead parrot / live bug sketch

Posted on May 4, 2010 at 12:30 11 Comments

This post is based on a piece published by Philk where he substitutes Monty Python’s What have the Romans done for us scene for a ‘What have the testers ever done for us parody’ I like the idea of this game, so in the same spirit, here is my dead parrot / live bug sketch

The first part is the original sketch for…

Babies and software

Posted on March 22, 2010 at 11:30 2 Comments

This is a blog entry dedicated to all the wonderful Mothers and Fathers (as well as those expecting) I know working in IT. It is also dedicated to anyone who has ever gone to work with baby food / snot or sick on their lapel without realising it. (Which pretty much means EVERYONE who is a parent)

I hope you enjoy it

This is a post born out of the fact I had been musing on the sheer amount of friends, relations and ex-colleagues…

I have written a new post about how I describe my role to other people in IT as well as the pitfalls that I have seen other companies fall into as a…

Has anyone who ever works in IT ever successfully explained to a non-IT parent or relative exactly what it is they do? I tried but when it got to the point where I was fantasising about putting fuses in scissors, I don't think it was the most successful exercise ever.
